Filk of "Where have all the flowers gone" by Pete Seeger

coming back and reading [413] and [414] in short succession, coupled with Draegos's post in [414]'s main discussion thread put me into a bit of a contemplative mood. I've had 'Where have all the flowers gone' knocking around in my head for a day or two - it seemed to fit Yuki's current mind-set.

So here y'all are.

What has happened to that smile.

What has happened to that smile, child of sorrows?
What has happened to that joy, our child of woe?
What has happened to your smile,
lost forever, or for a while?
when will you ever learn, when will you ever learn.

Where comes all this sadness from, child of sorrows?
Where comes black depression from, our child of woe?
Dark your thoughts and feelings show,
Plain to view, they tear you so.
When will you ever learn, when will you ever learn.

What has happened to your youth, child of sorrows,
what has happened to your spirit, oh child of mine,
grey your soul and grey your eyes,
grey the salty tears you cry.
When will you ever learn? When will you ever learn.

So, what does your future hold, child of sorrows?
Heart of deepest winter's cold, our child of woe?
Wretched thoughts and empty dreams,
Tattered hopes and stunted wings,
When will you ever learn? When will you ever learn?

Time to quietly step away, child of sorrows.
Time to sing another day, our child of woe.
Leave these futile hopes behind,
let these heavy bonds unwind,
When will you ever learn? When will you ever learn.
