I'm, uh, taking a little break from the Ancyent Beer-Drinkere effort. This was inspired by Plane Guy's ref to ".jp girls": I just love it!

I also want to say: Phaedrus is quite right about civility. Face it, bad manners is like white noise on the radio: it blocks out information and meaning. Q.E.D. To the considerable recriminations on this forum over the past few days, I can add nothing of value except a little disposable levity. (We have plenty of its opposite, gravity, to last us all a while, thank you.)

.jp Girls to the tune of "West End Girls" by the Pet Shop Boys. I have tried to match my lyrics to their frequent use of metrical pauses.

Sometimes your opponent's undead
And teamed with an android (thanks a lot, Fred!)
You think you're good, that you're unbeatable
But ask yourself: are you uncheatable?
In an arcade, in a .jp town?
All own your own,
With no-one around?
You've met your match for this show-down
In a .jp town

In a .jp town, an arcade world
Where .us boys face .jp girls
In a .jp town, an arcade world
Where .us boys face .jp girls
.jp girls

She's darkly beautiful, and mysterious,
Confrontational, deadly serious:
"Are you just bluff --
Or are you made of sterner stuff?
Can you take on Ping-chan
And remain standing?
Which do you choose:
A hard or soft landing?"

In a .jp town, an arcade world
Where .us boys face .jp girls
Ooh, a .jp town an arcade world
Where .us boys face .jp girls
.jp girls
.jp girls

She's got a heart of quartz and eyes of glass
She's got enough strength to toss your ass
Like a city bus
'Cross a city block,
Up like a bird, down like a rock;
Gird your loins, there's |-|311 to pay:
"You talk the talk -- let's see you play…"

In a .jp town, an arcade world
Where .us boys face .jp girls
In a .jp town, an arcade world
Where .us boys face .jp girls
.jp girls
.jp girls
.jp girls

(Apologies to the Pet Shop Boys)

West End Girls

Sometimes you're better off dead
There's a gun in your hand and it's pointing at your head
You think you're mad too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
In a restaurant in a West End town
Call the police
There's a madman around
Running down underground to a dive bar
In a West End town

In a West End town a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls
In a West End town a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls
West End girls

Too many shadows whispering voices
Faces on posters too many choices
If when why what how much have you got
Have you got it do you get it
If so how often
Which do you choose
A hard or soft option

In a West End town a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls
In a West End town a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls
West End girls
West End Girls

In a West End town a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls
Ooh West End town a dead end world
East End boys West End Girls
West End girls

You got a heart of glass or a heart of stone
Just you wait till I get you home
We've got no future
We've got no past
Here today built to last
In every city in every nation
From Lake Geneva to the Finland nation

In a West End town a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls
In a West End town a dead end world
East End Boys West End girls
West End girls
West End girls
West End girls
