Apologies to both Elton John and Billy Joel. It might be noted that I did this from their live concert in Tokyo, hence the ending part.

Oh, and apologies for the one crude word, but it's the only close rhyme I could think of. Gomen!

- The Manga-ka (was, The Piano Man, by Elton John and Billy Joel)

Oh, it's 3 PM on a Saturday,
The schoolgirls shuffle in
There's a gaijin up at the counter
Wishin' love and thinkin' within

I go "Man, I'm such a great failure,
I can't see quite how it goes,
But it's sad and it's l33t, and I drew it complete
When I was a Gamer at Joe's"

raa raa dididaa, raaraaraa dididaa ra-raa

Cry us a river, you manga-ka
Cry your self silly, tonight
Well, we're all in here to buy comic books
And you don't want us all to be tight.

Now Erika, she's the experienced,
She gave me this job for free
But she's quick with a slap, or a kick up the a**,
but there's someplace that she'd rather be.

Says "Piro, these fanboys are killing me,"
As a tear runs down her smile
"I'm sure I could be a great seiyuu
If I didn't pay rent for awhile."

raa raa dididaa, raaraaraa dididaa ra-raa

Now Yuki's a wanna-be manga-ka,
Whose friends always lead her to strife
She asked me to tutor, but I can't abuse her,
I'd ruin her skills for her life.

And the waitress is practicing baseball
She does it with full coffee pots [1]
Yes she's drinking a drink we call hopelessness
It's not like she's drinking a lot.

Cry us a river, you manga-ka,
Cry yourself silly, tonight
Well we're all in here to buy manga,
And you don't want us all to be tight.

Oh, it's a pretty good crowd, for a Saturday
The manager gives me a smile
Cause he knows that I've got many troubles,
But here I forget, for awhile.

And Kimiko just can't fall in love with me,
And Largo-san smells like a b33r
And Ping-chan swings a bar, and she looks at me hard,
and says "Aa, naze issharu wa?" [2]

raaraa didida raaraaraa dididaa ra-raa

Cry us a river, you manga-ka,
Cry yourself silly, tonight
Well we're all in here to buy manga,
And you don't want us all to be tight

*again*

PIRO:
Arigatou Gozaimashita!
Sayounara, Megatoukyou! [3]

[1] I might mention that the original lyrics here are "while the businessmen slowly get stoned" - a play on pot/stoned, don't you know ^^...

[2] "Hmm, what are you doing here?" - a weak translation of the original, modified for the creepy honorifics between EDS and fanboy.

[3] Almost exactly what Elton John said at the end

(Original)
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Making love to his tonic and gin

He says, "Son can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet
And I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes"

Lalela Lalelaa Lala Lalelaa La

(Chrous)
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be

He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me"
As a smile ran away from his face
"Well, I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"

Oh Lalela Lalelaa Lala Lalelaa La

Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talking with Davy, who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life

And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinking alone

(Chrous)
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see
To forget about life for a while

And the piano sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say "Man what are you doing here?"

Oh Lalela Lalelaa Lala Lalelaa La

(Chrous)
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright

[!filk] Love ya all, Goodnight! Wai~ ^_^ [/!filk]
