A belfry stands in Piney Flats,
A roost of Spiny Bats there sits
And looks out through the tiny slats
'Tween which a Spine-Bat snugly fits.

From up on high the Spiny Bats
All watch betwixt the tiny slits
And cast about for men in spatz
Who check the vats for fatty bits.

"The coast is clear!" proclaim the bats,
And out their number duly flits
To sup from the unguarded vats
Of sweet, beguiling Slivovitz.
