If you can call
one occurence a tradition, it follows that tradition calls for me to write a filk about one of the stories. I write this filk, therfore, as a "thank you" for a wonderful story and as a compliment for the author, as his work inspired me.
Sad Rhymes in Snowwith apologies to John Denver
Oh, the snow is fresh against my feet
And children's laughter sounds so l33t
A Megatokyo park fills me with awe
But as silence fades, with some train's horn
My mind is stirred, new thoughts are born
A scent brings sights that my real eyes never saw
You kissed me and smiled at me
You taught me how benign to be
I could not fight, but other things was clueless how to do
But I never really thanked you
Instead I've gone and left you
Believe, I cried then too
There's so many times I've let you down
I failed to grasp, or played around
All this time you struggled to keep strong
Though I'm married now, I think of you
Your shape in sight my broken view
Without you I fear I couldn't have gone long
You kissed me and smiled at me
You taught me how benign to be
I could not fight, but other things was clueless how to do
But I never really thanked you
Instead I've gone and left you
Believe, I cried then too
Now your playful voice tickles my ear
The touch of your hand, the smell when you're near
My student once has now grown and gone away
I dream about the day I came
Left my home to hit Japan
Who thought back then that I would ever say:
You kissed me and smiled at me
You taught me how benign to be
I could not fight, but other things was clueless how to do
But I never really thanked you
Instead I've gone and left you
Believe, I cried then too
But I never really thanked you
Instead I've gone and left you
Believe, I cried then too

Leaving on a Jet Planeby John Denver
All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn,
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go I'll think of you
Every song I sing I'll sing for you
When I come back I'll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, let me kiss you
Then close your eyes and I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times I won't have to say:
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
